Fingerprints On 1979-D Penny - Coin Community Forum

The acids and oils in fingers get on the surface of a coin and if cleaned with acetone (PURE) carefully to remove them right away, if not they become a permanent fixture to the coin. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/23/2022 1:38 pm It lowers the value on a higher grade coin. So it is just a spender. (Not a mint error, but a circulated coin issue) These can't be removed as the salts from perspiration and oils affect the surface of the coins.
