Can anyone tell me why the Socceroos coin is not included in the Renniks Australian Coin and Banknote Values book or the RAM's website that lists all the other $2 coins they have issued?

It is as much of a 'junk' coin as the other $2 coins distributed "exclusively" through Woolworth's tills so why doesn't it get a mention?

I think it is probably more appropriate as a commemorative than Wiggles or Mr Squiggle but it doesn't rate a mention. Anyone know why?

None of the woolworths coins are on the RAM website.

As for Renniks, it's probably too new a coin. Have to wait for the next edition.

Thank you MachinMachinMan, you are right. Despite the RAM claiming to be "proud to have released various coins over the decades" (media release) they don't include them on their website of other circulating legal tender - very "proud" indeed.

Rennicks actually do mention the Socceroos coin in their latest catalogue but didn't include an illustration.

Anyway, it appears that RAM considers coins produced for Woolies and others, despite being legal tender, are second-rate coins. If they were really "proud" of those 'junk' coins, why not include them in their website with the other circulating legal tender coins?

Never mind, I am still happy to have them in my collection of circulating coins. Just think it is odd that RAM don't acknowledge them like other circulating coins they mint.

I don't know about Renniks but the Royal Australian Mint doesn't include any denomination coin that wasn't released to the general public via the banks in their list of circulating coins because they instead classify these coins as collector coins (see 2021-22 Annual Report - Appendix D: Collector coin production). https://www.ramint.gov.au/sites/def..._digital.pdf

Sounds like they're not quite "normal circulation coins", but not quite "NCLT" either. We'll have to give them a new category then. How about QCLT - quasi-circulating legal tender?

RAM has the Woolies coins on another page with a very minor difference in the url... (how odd)

https://www.ramint.gov.au/two-dollar

Found it by sheer luck.

Thanks for the update. I'm surprised that the RAM differentiate between circulating coins and circulating coins minted for Woolworths (and ebay). Wonder why they bother if they are really "proud" of those coins?
