Just amazing, @DOCC. Does make me wonder if there is any hope for this dug coin, an 1859 IHC. It was given to me a few years ago by a guy who is more into Civil War finds.

Quote: if there is any hope for this dug coin Really hard to be 100% certain without having it in hand but my gut reaction is none, whatsoever! Corrosion has done it's deed.

That's what I was thinking, too @DOCC and @Coinfrog. Thanks for the input!

True that - but I remain in awe at the outstanding job you were able to accomplish to restore this coin. The positive transformation from your original 'goner' photo to the final conserved coin demonstrates a lot of knowledge and patience on your part to achieve such outstanding results. Very well done indeed.

Thx nickelsearcher!! Honestly, no matter the date, it is incredibly rewarding to give these 'dirt' coins a new lease on life.

Very nicely done! I wouldn't have thought this result was even possible! It makes me want to charge up my old Whites Eagle Spectrum and head over to the beach! It's been so long that I'd probably need to get a new battery pack first.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!
