This I won online and was quite pleased with this purchase. My assessment of this coin is AU-55, possibly altered color, and retoned into a rainbow like appearance. The other possibly is this is uncirculated with weak strike, ever so prevalent with the 22-D's. The first 192 is bolder than the last 2. No diagnostic die crack observed on the reverse at the O in ONE.   Of course I won't yet divulge how much I spent; that will have to be determined in an upcoming GTP episode  So I am fully aware that this coin could have altered surfaces, possibly an old, retoned cleaning, but overall I am happy with this purchase  |

I'm fairly new to this forum, but to me the devices look very clean and sharp...the fields- not as good. But all in all it's a very nice looking coin to me. I am interested in what others think as I am still very "green".

The reverse doesn't appear to have been cleaned? Appears to be a mostly red, AU folder coin, probably a Whitman. My guess - someone got the great idea to clean the obverse then it sat in a folder for 30 years.

Lovely coin - congratulations.
The reverse appears to have original surfaces with colorful toning while the obverse was likely cleaned a long time ago.
The strike quality is acceptable, and I see hints of wear/rub on the design high points.
I'm going AU55 details.

I'm thinking MS62. Color on reverse is just Toning, I have lots of Wheat Pennies with that. Lovely Coin  Edited by TeeEss86

That's a real nice looking 22-D. Abe's got a few flat spots and some nicks so I'll go with AU55 also.

Yes it is in the AU class. The reverse is a strong strike. I have a 1922 "so called plain" and the last 2 is also weak. I think the die pair for the strong reverse had the weak last 2.
