I usually don't go browsing Mercury dimes, but this one caught my eye and I feel I was lucky to win it. Any thoughts?

Nice eye appeal from the photos. Although anymore I assume all coins on ebay are cleaned until I have them in hand.

Shadow take some pictures when you received the coin, hopefully not like the captain says, although I do agree on some coins I bought on ebay, a few I see is definitely cleaned at some time ago.

One local dealer I buy from sometime he does a quick dipping, but is done professionally that most will never notice, sometime it will fool PCGS and NGC, much like NCS does in a way.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. It's a handsome example of a key date if it's original, and could make VF20, which would mean you got a very good deal.

I figured this was better than VF-20; the reverse is a bit weak but the obverse is really strong and even appears to have a little luster. I'm also hoping that the color on the back is lighter than it appears in the photos.

Over time I've managed to be able to determine fairly accurately whether a coin is cleaned from ebay photos...though it doesn't really apply to big time sellers that juice the pics. In those cases, its very hard to tell and unfortunately people often trust higher feedback sellers more when they shouldn't. I usually go for coins being sold by smaller sellers and avoid the 'sesationalist' ones since better deals are to be had, and they seem more honest.

Seller stated actual photo of the coin so hopefully it really is. As noted the reverse is weak and the D is almost gone but still for a rather rare coin, kind of nice to have.
