I have something a little....untraditional to give away as the prize of a contest. As a result I'd like to offer it in an untraditional contest format, and I'm looking for suggestions as to the format. Obviously, I won't use any suggestions which could be skewed in favor of the member making the suggestion.

How about you provide a numismatic-related story, either something true or something made-up, and contestants have to guess whether it's a true story. Stories could be long or a short as one sentence. People who guess wrong are eliminated, and people who are correct go on to the next round to guess at another story. Or you could just keep score and whoever is ahead after X rounds wins.

Wiffo, I think that contest would be too easy to "google". Pumpkin contest is a good idea. Maybe do a "you Vs the TPG" contest. 24 hour rounds, First person to correctly guess ( the numerical grade) gets 5 points, the second 3, the third 2, and for guessing you get 1 point. +1 bonus point for being the first to identify a special designation or variety, such as SLQ MS63 FH, or and over date or such. 10 rounds, 10 days. Educational, exact, fun, relatively quick, and no real way to cheat.

I don't know if we would be able to google SuperDave's personal coin stories. I doubt he's told them all on the Internet.

Okay, SuperDave, I was giving this some thought when I realized that perhaps making-up a contest could BE a contest. If so, then I have either already won or lost and I wonder if I would disqualify myself by making another suggestion.

Well I think doing something with photography would be a cool contest given its SuperDave the god among men for the CC forums when it comes to taking coin pictures.
Maybe just have everyone who wants in submit a picture. But not a regular coin pic, more a pic thats trying to really show it in a new light to put a beautiful spin on it. Like a picture of money that a mainstream person would see and be like wow thats cool, or even wow thats a beautiful coin.
And if any of you have seen my pictures, this contest definitely does NOT favor me rofl.

You could have people take a picture of their favorite coin and then add colors or edit it in creative ways. You could then select the winner. Might favor the tech-savvy, but would be interesting to see the results!
