I have some mint sets from various years. If the mint set has a retail price of say $10, does it make sense to separate the coins if you feel like one may be worth much more than that by itself? Probably a pretty stupid question, but I am still wet behind the ears on the do's and dont's of some of these aspects.

Thanks all.

It depends on what years you are talking about. If you have a 1996 Uncirculated set, you may consider taking out the 1996w Roosevelt dime and submitting it to a TPG. The resale isn't much, you may get $25.00 for a MS65. It really depends on, what years you have and what grades you receive. Its a gamble that could pay off.

I agree. Once you get into the older sets ('60's and earlier) no, but for a $10 set you should be OK. Just use your good judgement.
