Is there a way to "conserve" this coin and remove the green?

I have a 1870 with better detail, but worse corrosion too also in need of care.

Holy carp(sp?), we have an 1865 just like that! I know acetone won't do a thing, we tried it. I really wonder what that is.

Look on the bright side, muddler, you're not the only one stuck with one of these...

Oh, forgot the grade. Easily an AU under the junk (could even go MS, who knows?). It's authentic, too (shallow "N" and the "E"s look right for the pre-1870 reverses).

No way to remove it and end up with a decent looking coin, I've tried all sorts of things and ended up with a coin that looked worse than what I started with. Being a metal detector user, I have found a hundred or so Indians just like that one, and it is a shame there is nothing that can be done because many of mine were EF-AU's. Now, I will say that I have heard from someone that they tried using a small brass bristled brush kind of like a toothbrush, and scrubbed it in a circular motion on the coin and it eventually removed the green and smoothed out the corrosion under the green oxidation and ended up with a coin that didn't look too bad. I have not tried this yet myself though.
Rest in Peace

What a shame... hard to get date Indian, you could soak it in olive oil for a time to see if it will take some of the green off.

At least AU, details

1869 is a tough coin to find without issues. I agree, not much can be done to completely restore this coin.
