It looked just fine to me, but when I weighed it I became very curious, as it is significantly lighter than other examples of this type at only 3.6 to 3.7 grams.
Thoughts?

Numismat- Not necessarily. I recall that these were not made very well. I actually have one which has a TON of die cracks and a very notable lamination error. Methinks that yours may be a bit off due to just the poor quality control.

This one has a die crack and some lamination issues as well. That makes sense why the details look just fine. Maybe a difference in alloy? The diameter and thickness look about right.
Thanks for your help Archaz. =)

I think the coin is suspect.

Authentic coins in this series should be well-made and meet standards.

According to the "Korean Coins and Banknotes Catalogue" (2009) published in Seoul, the coin should have a diameter of 20.7 mm and a thickness of 2.0 mm.

The weight should be 4.8 grams.

I just weighed my specimen and it is precisely 4.8 grams.

Diameter is correct, but the thickness of my coin is just slightly under 2mm, it's like 1.8mm or so. That doesn't seem like it would account for such a big difference in weight though. The difference in thickness is only about 10% of the reference thickness, while the difference in weight is around 25% of the reference weight.

It should be noted here that there is a variety of this coin that is a counterfeit produced by the Japanese government to destabilize the Korean Economy. Look up KM1118, It is described as having a larger circle of dots around the dragon.

The Japanese counterfeit has a 12.5mm wide circle, but I don't think this one is that wide.
