Too bad it appears to have been cleaned.

When you see coins like this raw you're first question should be "why is it not in a slab already?".

There's something off about the color and surfaces...obviously it didn't slab.

AU55-AU58, questionable color. Lots of lightly circulated IHC have been dipped, cleaned & retoned to get a better grade at the TPGs and sell for better money. It's a shame this key date (looks genuine with the correct diagnostics) had its surfaces altered so dramatically. The color is way, way off for red & brown. Even with careful exposure to make it more evenly brown, the underlying shine from the dipping/recoloring will always be there.

Yeah, too bad. With that color if I didn't see a date on that coin I would have thought it was a 1859-1864 Copper Nickel type.

55 and I was thinking cleaned before I even read the rest of the thread....that's a coin I wouldn't buy unslabbed for sure.....way to risky.

The color of the coin where the "United States" is written is so different from the rest of the coin.

Do you think it will sell at that buy it now price?
