I'm not much into paper.Although I will collect them,if the price is right.
So I can't help much.
$100.00? Me,I wouldn't go that high(in that grade).I've got a couple in my collection.Paid a couple of bucks each for 2 of them.

Way too much. In my opinion the note is only in VF condition, and has a book value of $15 in VF. In C.Unc condition these notes have a book value of $100.

The asterisk is there to indicate that this is a replacement note. Whenever error notes (or notes not up to the standards) they would be set aside and destroyed. Because the run of notes would no longer be complete after removing these notes they had to print new ones (replacement notes).

Replacement notes are still around today, but they no longer use asterisks. Without having the Charlton Catalogue in front of you while searching Canadian notes you would not be able to tell the difference between a modern replacement and a normal note. Replacement notes in the Journey Series (Current Notes) have to be in a confirmed range to be replacements, for example;

$5 APF 2,800,000 - 2,880,000 (80K Range) are replacements.

I think thats alot for this note as well. I have a few
but even a replacement note in that condition is not worth $100.00.

Some replacement notes are worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Maybe there was some confusion on the signatures, a Beattie Coyne *AB books at $165 in EF. A current copy of Charlton Gov't Paper Money is an essential if you're going to collect paper.

According to an older version (2006) of the Charlton paper money guide, this note would run around $20.00 in EF. I can't see it being much more than that today.
I also would question the grade.

Your absolutley right Canadain banknotes ,some notes are very valuable, I was referring to this bill ( grade ) with this signature series and this prefix. Beattie / Coyne gets abit better.

I have a 1954 $2 banknote also. Here's a scan of it.

1954-$2.00-Bill

I had no idea it was worth something like that ..... thought it was worth a little more than face.

I have several Canadian banknotes, $1 and $2 bills and have never paid that much attention to them. Guess I'd better start studiny up on these.

Post some scans of your other Canadian notes.

Unfortunately that note you just posted is very common, and only worth face value in that condition.

Edit: Added Quote.

For anyone interested here is a link to a very rare, and expensive Canadian replacement note. (1954 $5 Devils Head Replacement)

This is the more common, Beattie-Coyne signature note. (Book Value is Currently $23,000 Canadian)
