What's your all-time favorite Canadian paper-bill?
I like most of the Canadian Government Paper Money, but => "My Top-Ten all-time favorite Canadian paper-bills"
10 => 1870 $1 Jacques Cartier 9 => 1887 $2 Lansdownes (two colors on the back design) 8 => 1897 $2 Six men in Fishing Dory 7 => 1935 $20 "Princess" Elizabeth (Pink) 6 => 1920 $1 Newfoundland George-V (Ship & Anchor on back) 5 => 1897 $1 Aberdeens ("green" Logging Scene) 4 => 1935 $25 George-V & Queen Mary (Silver Jubilee) 3 => 1912 $5 Passenger Train (The Ocean Limited) 2 => 1902 $4 Mintos (Ship in Canadian locks) 1 => 1954 $10 Devil's face (with Mount Burgess on the back)
Sorry, I don't have a camera yet (this would have been so much nicer if I'd shown a picture of each of these bills ... someday I will have those skilz)
What's your all time favorite Canadian Note?

I would have to go with the 1935 Princess Elizabeth.

Thanks for responding, motoryoda ...
yah, the pink Princess Elizabeth "Shirley Temple look-alike" note is a definite winner ...
Odd too, because at that time (1935), nobody would have ever suspected that Princess Elizabeth stood a chance of ever becoming the Queen, because at that time King George-VI (Elizabeth's father) was the younger brother to Edward "The Abdicator" who was supposed to inherit the throne once their father George-V passed-away ... but horny Eddie decided to go for the chick rather than the throne, so George became king and eventually Elizabeth became the queen => game breaker!
=> will Queen Liz break the all-time "reigning record" currently held by her Great Grandmother Queen Victoria? (man, it's gonna be a photo-finish!)

Wow => nice ... that's an amazing note!
NOTE => I stuck to Canadian Government Paper Money and didn't include Canadian Bank Notes in my Top Ten (but maybe I should have!) ...
=> Again, that is one fantastic looking note! (man, I have to learn how to upload photos ... a picture is worth 1000 words) ...
Thanks SPP-Ottawa

Hey SPP-Ottawa, you're a Geologist, is that correct? ... there is a bank note with a super-cool Underground Mining scene on it, but I can't recall which bank it's from?
=> do you happen to know, offhand? (I love the looks of that note as well)

Of course, trains like that never existed in Newfoundland... I imagine those were "canned" images put together by the American Bank Note Company. But how many other notes had 5 trains on them?

My favorite in my collection is the 1975 $50.00 in the multi-colour series with the RCMP musical ride on the reverse.

wow, nice call, canuck1us => yah, I love that bill as well (they still perform that ceremony => I actually saw the RCMP do their musical ride when they toured through Thompson Manitba ... very cool) ...
And now that you mention fairly recent $50 bills => I also love the 1988 $50 "bird-bill", with the Snowy Owl on the back (wow, Canadian cash may look a bit like monopoly money every now and then, but OMG, 9 times outta 10 the Canadian bills are absolutely gorgeous!)
Hey, I'm a bit curious about your handle => what's with the canuck1us? (did you once live in Canada, but now you're living in the States? ... or are you merely a Vancouver Canucks fan!?) => either way, right on!
=> man, you've gotta admit that Canadian Bills are by far the prettiest bills, bar-none!

Quote: there is a bank note with a super-cool Underground Mining scene on it, but I can't recall which bank it's from? There are quite a few out there, mining was essential for precious metals and coal was king back then. - 1920 NFLD $2 note is one (the reverse is the same as the $1 note you mentioned above) - 1935 Bank of Nova Scotia $10 note is another, front, lower left panel

Stevex6 - Yes, I was born and grew up in Nova Scotia...now live in Tennessee. I happened to catch the RCMP musical ride when I was visiting family this summer.
My son always liked the different coloured bills when we would visit, so I thought it would be nice to start a collection.
I've kinda built it up over the past few years - just waiting for the new polymer $100 to come out next month!
Something about being away from Canada draws me more to collecting the notes and coins.

I'm in the US and agree with what has been said - Canada notes are, by far, the best looking notes I have seen. My favorite is also the 1975 50.00: This is not mine - wish it was. I remember going to the Canadian bank in '75 and my grandfather exchanging US money for some of these. I wish I had been able to get/keep one back then. I wish the US would start making some of the "improvements" look more like this!

Dominion of Canada 1902 4/four dollar note, St. Laurence Seaway ship. I'm also proud to have one of these rare notes in my collection. Last I read there were only 116 known.
