SPP-Ottawa => yup thanks, the $2 Gov't of Newfoundland is the one that I was thinking of (it's awesome, and it is also a "Government note" so I will get around to collecting it at some point)
canuck1us => I have mixed feelings regarding the "new polymer $100 to come out next month" ... on one hand I am always interested when anything new is produced, so I can collect it ... but on the other hand, plastic/rubber/polymer money seems like sucha far cry from the good ol' days and collecting old coins and old notes, no? (oh well, we'll see ... and again, I am also interested to see the new notes)
wireman09 => apparently your favorite is the one that I listed as my second favorite => yes, I love that note! (plus, there are 3 different varieties of that note => the 1900 version with the US-side of the locks, plus the two versions from 1902 that show the Canadian-side of the locks) ... everything about those notes is super-cool!
... thanks for responding, everyone!

There are many, many gorgeous notes. I love all the Dominion of Canada and chartered bank notes especially. Being from Nova Scotia, there's always been a place in my heart for this beauty:

I am partial to the Nova Scotia scenes as well. The DOC train note is a great looking note and would be most prized if I ever added it.
It seems the Nova Scotia scenes always are on the notes that cost more....this one especially!
I do like the 1975 $100 with the Lunenburg scene. The 1954 $50 with the beach at Lockeport I have in my collection as well. I like it because it is closest to home but it isn't a favorite.
I started my coin collection with the N.S. Pennies and half Pennies and my stamp collection with the $0.50 1929 Bluenose stamp - which is my favorite stamp.

chequer => I had that beauty rated as my 3rd favorite ... this is awesome, soon you guys will have posted pictures of my entire Top Ten!
canuck1us => I agree that the 1954 $50 has a beautiful ocean scene on the back (sadly, it is a bit hard to appreciate in the orange hue)
Hmmm, nobody is agreeing with my 1954 $10 Mount Burgess, eh? ... honestly, I could have listed all of the 1954 bills as my favorites (the $5 is gorgeous as well with the picture of Otter falls) ... I think I like the 1954 series because I remember those bills from being a young kid (good memories)

I also love the 1954 $10 note, but more because of what Mount Burgess means to me, and the Burgess Shale.

DBM => wow, thanks for those awesome links! (you have computer skills to burn)
SPP-Ottawa => yes, the Burgess Shale and its fossils (geologist's heaven, eh?) ... my Dad would take us hiking during our summer road trips through the rookies (Yoho, Banff and Jasper National Parks are probably my three favorite spots on earth!)
thanks again for the responses

My favorite Cdn Gov't banknote has to be the 1954 $5 Otter Falls. For chartered banknotes I like the Cdn Bank of Commerce $20 with Poseidon and the sea nymphs, and the Royal bank $20.

The sea nymphs note is rated "XX", and "will pay to the barer on demand" What kind of commerce was this bank engaged in?
