I thought the 1864-L is only for bronze IHC's?

Well the "L" is only bronze coins as you state.
And that's not one of them.
Someone overpaid for that for sure, maybe the closeup of the ribbon area threw them

jeeeez....and I just had an auction that failed to sell some BU common date silver quarters for spot. There was literally some circ ones right next to my auction that sold for $8/coin. Really?

Yeah, I've had VG Barber dimes go for $10, and an AU scratched 1934-D dime go for $54. ebay is ridiculous.

A few 1864 CuNi "L" in business strike and proofs have been found...but that's not one of them.

I believe that the point of the bust determines wether it is an "L" or not; pointed bust = "L", rounded bust is not the "L".
