Looks cast to me. That should be reported. I know the guy is being honest about what he has, but it is illegal to sell a copy unless it is marked as such. The biggest problem being that someone may buy it as a copy but turn around and sell it as the real thing to someone that doesn't know better.

If you look at the Q&A at the bottom, he did post someone's comment telling him that it is a fake, and why. Even though he is being honest, ebay will take the listing down if they find out, they will send him an email saying fake coins have to be clearly marked fake or replica.

Even if not mentioned in the auction, I would have stayed away from this one because it does, indeed, not look right. That being said, to give credit where it's due, it's a pretty good fake. Correct weight. Most design intricacies accounted for. Apparently made of correct amount of silver. Not bad work.

Look at the depression on the head.

The depression is normal for SLQs that are not fully struck (those without the depression are actually in the minority).

Actually, I believe it's genuine. The impression on the head appears to be PMD. This coin is more than likely dipped. It still shows traces of mint luster. I have not seen casts do that. The devices don't look "wacky" either.
Just my opinion.

The 3 doesn't look right at the bottom........anyone else think so? And in the obverse pic there is a line that runs from 9 o'clock to about 1 o'clock....almost looks like a crack, but it might just be the way the coin is tilted in the pic that it is showing just a hair of the edge, but I don't remember ever seeing that before.

I think the edge /rim on the obverse resembles some copies there at the upper half of the obverse.
Not a scam but I don't think it is right to try selling this as a authentic coin with a minor disclaimer of putting copy and a question mark.
I think that the guy is just using that copy? as a way to justify selling a coin that in my opinion is probably a fake.
If anyone can put what makes this a fake into words well enough to convince ebay, they would take it down.
But you should use this link - eBay Auction Violation Reporting
from our CCF forum.
not the one Report Item on the auction page.

This guy needs to be reported 1909 S VDB Copy? [eBayItem]400252829143[/eBayItem]
This coin is up over $100.00 and ends in 47 minutes.
I feel like being the final high bidder just to make a point. He has other copies and fakes as well.

It's amazing that his return policy is "Returns not accepted", all his photos are taken with the coin in his fingers (why, oh why do people do that?) and he has almost 5600 transactions with 100% positive feedback. He must be related to Houdini.

I reported both the SLQ and the SVDB. I think his 1935 Peace dollar looks FAKE too as well as possibly some of the Morgans.
