I normally don't look for these but I think I am going to start. This one kinda stuck out and was in pretty good condition. How common are MM's? Do you find 1 a box or are they more or less common than that?

I have found several in a box and two of the 1979s in one roll. I am also on the East Coast so a lot of the MM are usually subject to PMD. Can't hurt to look IMO.

The bottom serif of the mint mark area of the 1979-D cents split lower were cause by a damaged punch. A very high number of dies from that year show this. This is common.

So this is die damage and not a MM? Or should I post a close up of the "D"

That is a damaged punch. sorry. A large percentage that year looks like that one.

I feel so dumb...guess what I did? I had the cent I thought was the 1mm-003 in a 2x2...I also had a 1979D on my table I was comparing it to....well...I photographed the WRONG CENT!

Anyways...Can anyone Verify these as a MM... Thanks

Another example of the same damaged punch. Most dies that year had these.
