Just wondering if I have a coin worth keeping. Does this look like a Die Deterioration?. It also has an entra L in the word Liberty. This picture is the best I can do. I didn't take a picture of the back as it is perfect. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

YES! I'd keep it, but then I keep all the odd coins that come my way. I don't see the extra 'L' in liberty -- sometimes those are hard to see, but I see that the 'In God...' has a what looks like a line running through it. So I would say -- and I am no expert -- that you have a misaligned die.

Wait for the experts' opinions though.

But I would keep it and maybe -- when I got tired of it or wanted something better, I'd sell it or make it part of a trade or something.

The line through the motto is caused by the Die Deterioration. This is very common among cents of that period. I'm sure someone else can explain how that ridge or line actually forms, as I can't remember. I'm pretty sure it is due to the way the die wears out and deforms slightly. I'm also pretty sure that's why it looks like there is an extra L in LIBERTY. The metal of the die has deformed, making it appear as if there is an extra L, but it's just die wear, similar I think to the 1955 "poor mans" doubled die.

Die Deterioration is a die state and not an error so I wouldn't keep it. But this is a nice example so you might want to hold on to it for that reason.
