Do you collect rolls or maybe just a handfull of a particular coin? I find rolls are nice, but honestly I don't think I need a rolls worth of the same coin. What's your take?

Yup. I wanted 4 BU 57 washingtons for presents- what do I do with the rest of the roll? Rolls seem to be more for investment or dealers, or forlots of gifts (buff rolls of late) otherwise, why have more than 1 or 2 dupes?

I look for nice coins and save them all. Frequently this will be zero but other times there will be more than I can comfortably save.

I've been looking for nice 1969 quarters for over thirty years and have never even seen a roll much less a nice one. Any nice ones of this date that I have came from mint sets.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

I'm not really a roll collector, however I kinda regret selling my 10 rolls of bison nickels but I needed the money at the time.

Also, I grab out all the westward journey nickels out of my till at work. I always thumb through it and once in a while come up with some neat finds. So far I pulled $1.50 worth the "P" mintmarked keelboat nickels. I RARELY see any peace medal nickels at all. Only have pulled out two or so. And finally I haven't had any bison nickels from the tills yet.

Rolls are nice if you have the extra cash to tie up for a few years but they also take quite a bit more space than one coin in a 2X2. On occassion I will buy a roll of something but usually hold them for only limited time before grabbing a little profit to put back into a coin I would much rather have. No matter what we chose to do it is all a gamble all of the time. Don't know how many times I have regretted passing something up and then finding out a few months or years down the road how stupid I was. One thing about this hobby is YOU NEVER KNOW!!!

My co-worker's father-in-law used to collect a roll of every State Quarter, both mintmarks. It took him a few years to realize just how huge this collection would be, both spacewise and the amount of cash he'd have tied up in them. Now he's down to just four or five of each coin.

I collect by the roll but only Nickels and quarters. The Nickels because I want a roll for every year of the jefferson series. The Quarters because I trade State Quarter rolls for rolls of 1976 Quarters. Space is not the problem its the weight. I had to use 1 inch thick oak boards to build my Quarter box after the Half inch one collapsed under the weight.
