I was buying a collection this week, some of the coins were in these green Whitman folders.

I do not like folders, but I thought these looked sort of nice. I think they are from the 60's, and that is what the daughter of the man who collected them said. The last date listed on the two Lincoln folders is 1965 D.
There is also a SLQ and Morgan folder.

It looks like the coins were put into the folder in the late 60 to early 70's

There was also 18 rolls of Lincoln cents from 1960 to the early 70's (somehow only 13 rolls made it to the pic), the lady was taking these to the bank so I gave her face for them.

Really not sure why I picked these, but thought I might sort through them see if there is anything worth keeping.

Here are two coins I popped out of the folder, good chance they have been in the folder for 50 years, I suprised they are not in very bad shape.

One of the rolls, the coins seemed to be locked into the tube, I may have to break the tube to get them out.
If I keep them I might put them all into new tubes.

The green whitman folders were very quality made, but I am not sure if they used appropriate materials that will keep your coins safe. I have one for dimes (don't remember where I got it) that I have never used. Like I said, it looks to be great quality, much better than any blue folder, but I'm not sure if I trust them...not that I trust the blue ones.

Great find GR58! I've seen another picture on here of a green dime folder that combined the merc dimes with the rosies. It just went on to the next year 45, 46, 47 etc.

Very cool!

To get the coins out of the tube, heat it up with a hair dryer.

Green Whitman folders? I always thought Whitman folders were blue. I learned something today. I guess they must have been green first then changed to blue later. Did they make any green Whitman albums also?

Badthad .. thanks for the hair dryer idea .. I will give that a try.

"Green Whitman folders? I always thought Whitman folders were blue"

I am pretty sure .. as was mentioned, that they had the blue folders at
the same time they had these green ones .. these I believe were just
a deluxe grade.

"Let us know what you find when you finish searching through these... have fun! "

I am hoping I might find a couple better/high grade coins to put away or
upgrade my Dansco 8100. I did find a 1926 S maybe VF.

Thanks for all the replies .. mostly wanted to share some folders I don't see very often
and some coins that were in the for 40 to 50 years. I should say there were some SLQ in
that album that were tone very dark.... I am sure I would not use these folders, at least not long
term ... just thought they are interesting
