Unadvertised... from a seller who also was selling a more obvious (attributed) old forgery 1799 8R. Surprised no one noticed this one, considering he had up an advertised one, It is rather subtle, but there's enough there to where I'm fairly sure... I believe my potential bid would have snagged it, but I suffered an unforeseen technical disruption. Oh well.

The same unforeseen technical disruption (damned helper monkey, I tell him to pay attention...) also caused me to miss out on this piece. The transitional Guatemala minors were goofy looking, but this is a little too goofy. From the strike, legend lettering, and coloration, I "think" this was likely was a contemporary counterfeit and not genuine:

Nice find - I would have bid on the 1803 if I had noticed it. Too busy lately to do a thorough search of ebay.
