So what is with these guys, I have a perfect rating ( over 100 ) , shipped with a tracking # and still have to wait 21 days. How many millions do they get for another 21 days to earn interest on. Anybody else out there with comments

I'm in the same boat. The wait is not usually 21 days. The last 3 sales I had they held till shipping was verified to have arrived and then a couple of days to give the buyer the chance to return the item. You need to have 25 sales without having any issues to have the holds removed. You can have 1000 positive feedback but if you do not 25 verified problem free sales with shipping...they can and usually do hold the funds for sales over $100 until you do.
It is annoying but it is a policy we agree to when we sign up.

Its 25 sales UNLESS you dont provide a tracking number on your shipping. For instance if you mail a coin using a 57 cent stamp of your own instead of a $1.75 USPS shipping label purchased through ebay and pay through paypal. Then its 21 days again. Or like my friend who sold a bike and delivered it in person to the buyer instead of shipping. He had to wait 21 days. Or like 2 recent buyers who were new to ebay and so I had to wait 7 days extra? Just dont think about it. Give them the 20% juice and then wait for the remainder.

Pretty sure ebay and PayPal make more off of sales than the sellers do themselves. It's ridiculous. ebay charges a fee for absolutely everything they can think of and lowering your PayPal rate via the merchant application is beyond a hassle. Unfortunately, ebay is one of the best online marketplaces, and unless you want to lose that kind of exposure, you have no choice but to stick around.

When I started selling on ebay last year, PayPal made my funds available immediately. Why? I don't know and was somewhat surprised. I have been an ebay member (buyer) since Oct-2005 and did have a CC and bank account on file though. On the plus side I have had no bad experiences with ebay buyers (yet)!

I agree the 90 probation period with the 21 day hold is aggravating. I had a previous account and they wouldn't even link the two. I am receiving funds about every 4-5 days after positive feedback has been issued for me. It is very irritating when you have $600 in your paypal you cannot touch and running out of items to list.

not to mention they now charge a percentage on your shipping fees too.

And they sometimes make a bigger profit on things I sell than I do. It sucks but what can you do it's the most popular place in the world to buy and sell.

I am especially careful to watch out for small print from ebay. A few years ago I had a few old $100.oo and $50.00 bills. They offered a special free listing on one day. What the fine print said - and I found out after I got their fees - was that they adjusted their percentage of profit upwards on these free listings if the object sold for over a certain amount. I actually ended up having to give them all my profits and ended up paying them 5.00 extra. I came up short 5.00 on the face value of the bills. Needless to say that when I get any offer from ebay anymore, I go over it with a fine-toothed comb before I will use them. I was in ebay when close to the very start. I miss the 25 cent listing fee, free contact between other bidders, and lower overall percentage ebay took. THIS is what made them the giant they are. I wish they had kept it up. It was nice being able to make an extra few dollars easily. Now they know they are the only kid on the block so they know they can take as much as they want..

You know what their profits are by the fees you pay after items are sold. Right now I am paying 7% of whatever my final price is when an coin is sold plus they charge a percentage of whatever the shipping cost is.

Hard to tell if you're making a profit, if you don't know what profit is.

you need to add their fees into the price you are asking for to cover them but that jacks up the price and you get less buyers but you have to do it or you never make any money.

If your business is selling, you should be making at least a 30% gross profit percentage, or you should find a different business.
