1936 Lincoln Penny with Broken left portion of the Letter are in Liberty. All three (3) coins have the same missing portion of the R. Any help please . Was this a common break?

Sorry I thought I did a discription but didnt take for some reason. These three coins all have the same date 1936 and the same break in the are in Liberty. The bottom left of the are is not there in each of the tree coins.

That's not a die break. It is most likely just a Grease Filled Die. A little grease/debris built up in the recess of the letter "R" of LIBERTY in the die, which did not allow metal to flow into that recess when the coin was struck. These are common. There is no added premium.

Incorrect. It is a hub break, and it is very common.

I thought I had this one pegged.

Could you explain this further? I'm having trouble understanding this. Thanks!

Part of the hub that forms the leg of the are in LIBERTY has broken off. The result is that several of the dies used by this hub have the missing leg. Thus they could be from different dies because of the hub damage. If it were die damage the legs would be there with an chip between them. As coppercoins said, it is hub damage.

I would say no as it show on a large number of dies making it common. Hubs are a positive image. Damage to them would removes devices.

Die chips add an unformed area on the coin making it raised because the dies are negative. damage to them affect the field areas.
