I've seen a lot of extreme pricing on ebay for the Canada 2011 magnetic cent. They're declared rare and the last magnetic cents of Canada. I don't mean that I trust the all sellers on ebay, but I still would like to know about the mintage of the 2011 Canada magnetic cents. I've heard that people have received rolls of it from banks, but I've only found four of them in my wallet since the beginning of the year, having received more than 50 non-magnetic ones, so does this mean that it's somehow rare? Any RCM representatives know about the mintage? I would appreciate it if someone can post the mintage, because on the Coins and Canada pricing website, there are only pricing (and maybe mintage, but not sure) for the non-magnetic cents. There are lots of magnetic rolls available on ebay. I have found magneic cents in change without really trying. There may be more or less of them than the non-mags when the dust settles, but I suspect you will be able to buy certified MS67 coins for $20 to $30 sooner rather than later. |

The 2011 are not rare in my area.I get them in change daily now.They look like they are fresh from the mint.ALL are MS so far!

They seem semi-scarce to me, too. But at best, they compare with the relatively scarce magnetic 2005P cents, which are today worth exactly 1c.

Seems like there's more in the East than West. Yes, I've saw the posts on ebay, but sometimes ebay sellers don't send you the stuff you ordered, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to search for those kinds of rolls on ebay. |

I have found over 50 x 2011 mags with little effort.
2011 will be like past years with both varieties:
2009 with mags being harder to find
2006-RCM with equal quantities of mag and non-mag
2005 with mags being harder to find

I just grabbed my penny tin and there's a couple 2011 on the top and they're both magnetic.

In my area the 2009 mags are common it is the non mags that are more scarce for that year. For 2005 I seem to find them in equal quanities. The 2011 seems to be more non mags here than mags but they are turning up a little more often now. As mentioned above almost all of them are MS cents.

Yeah, that's why I said there are more in the east than west. You don't want to sell the ones you have, since you don't know about their mintage, right? (In case they worth more than the non-magnetic ones.

I just bought a Canadian 2010 Uncirculated Mint Set so that I could fill that hole for the 2010 magnetic cent. I understand that this is the only way to get one. I sure hope it is magnetic. I need a 2011 magnetic yet and no way will I get it in circulation here in the US.  |

 When it comes to modern day coins with mintages in the Quadrillions-Omega Zillions, wait a couple of years before acquiring the so-called rarities. There are exist what we call the "closet collectors", (hoarders) that have thousands of rolls put aside and are waiting for the price to peak! Once they see the trend value of a particular coin skyrocketing, they unleash their stash, creating a massive influx of so-called RARE modern coins in the market. Then voila, the rarity that you once had is worth a paltry few dollar$. This phenomena has been proven time and time again with past rarities. For example the 1947, blunt "7" cent. Guess what happened when rolls of B.U. '47 cents' hit the market a few years ago, so much for rarities! Glenn  |
