telling me this coin I'm selling is fake, obviously if it is such was unintentional because we listed like...100 coins "Be advised. This coin is a cast fake and if I win it I will file a dispute with ebay. Don't bother trying to convince me that it isn't. The toning is also "ovenbaked". Probably in a potato. What a crum." i told the guy he was rude but that itd be looked into i was going to make some comparisons to slabbed quarters but ill just let the forum decide this time. fake or not? if fake, obviously it will be pulled and junked http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl..._1200wt_1344

Looks good to me Brian. Maybe if you dipped it the guy would like it better ;). I have a feeling you would know best since you have it in hand and your hardly inexpierenced.

Do yourself a favor and block the guy before he even has a chance to bid on it. He really sounds like a judgemental PIA, how can he automatically assume it is cast and baked? I see no signs of either one, it just looks like a crusty old coin to me. All it will take to authenticate this one is a simple weight, a coin cast in base metal would obviously be underweight. Also, please share his ebay ID- I do not need jokers like that bidding on my auctions either

If he wins it? Why would he bid on it if he "knows" it's fake? BLOCK!

Yeah, I am going to block him...I know enough about ebay to know that guys like this are trouble. By the way, the coin doesn't have dull cast surfaces in hand from what I remember, I probably saw it a few weeks ago. I can see how the lettering looks a bit off but that could just be because of the surfaces. his ID is mikie17

I dug a 41 merc this summer that was just as overbaked....not in a potato....in a field. I see nothing that gives me pause.

this guy is off his rocker... "OH! Please don't block me mister dealer. I'll have nightmares. And I've heard that ebay doesn't sell hay. So she'll starve to death. That quarter is pitted and oven toned. I've seen hundreds of silver dollars done the same way.Cooking coins! For heavens sake. Shame on you! " yeah block him fast

The coin looks fine to me. I've seen SLQs that had that look and coloring before. Even if it was fake, threatening to win the auction to file a dispute is actually against ebay rules. It would fall under the same statute of attempting to win to leave negative feedback, which is more clearly defined. I would report this buyer to ebay and of course, block him. ebay won't do anything to him because he's the buyer and they love buyers, in fact, they might send him some flowers and plead with him to stay on the site and bid more often. The guy was an immature , I think I'll block him too, just because.

Look at the amount of negative feedback hes left! Might this be a way to get him suspended?

Who the heck would fake a common coin like that and make it look like that? The guy is a moron.

Not fake, but does seem to have unusual toning suggestive of cleaning, or perhaps a baking LOL! And I agree with all the others just block him and cut off corresponding to him. You shoudn't even have told him you are blocking him. He will probably report the coin as fake now just because he's mad and I wonder if ebay will pull your auction, even if legit?

I had some time and I decided to waste it by actually looking at this buyer's feedback left for others. That was an adventure. Not sure if I've ever seen such negativity from one buyer. It becomes very evident once you look at "past 90 days". What really stood out to me, however, was his speech. On some occasions he would use phrases only older generations would use and other times, he'd belittle and mock using words typical of teenagers. He bought very many coins, but also stamps and other antiques. Numismatics gets some younger people, but stamps and antiques are 99%+ older individuals so I'm guessing that's what he is. His use of "LOL" within negative feedback, his occasional reference to various human "bodily functions", and his persistent angry juvenile nature (despite his likely advanced age) make me think this guy a genuine psychopath....in all aspects of life, not just on ebay. Bizarre.
