Hi, I just purchased this 1856-O Seated Liberty half dollar off ebay, First of I was wondering if it was a good buy or not. Second What do you think the grade of this coin would be.

This coin has VF-35 details IMO and does not appear to have been harshly cleaned. Retail for an original, undamaged coin in this grade would be well over $60. Your coin is worth less because of the damage to both obverse and reverse and the sale price reflects that. You received a coin with much stronger detail than would normally be available for $38. If the digs don't bother you then you did fine.

I seriously considered putting a bid on that half but got distracted and missed out. I'm glad you got it! I agree with Jaobler's assessment. You did good if you don't mind the heavy pecks.
