Have the same concerns for this 1803 as 1795 I posted.
I'll post NGC grade later.

Considering whether to send in for conservation and possible implications (likelihood of downgrade/no grade) vs. returning to seller.

This one is an early Christmas gift at $1155.

As always, your input, feedback, experience and guidance is appreciated.

Seller/mine:

Obverse: Verdigris in front of forehead.

Reverse: Around "N" in "One", around leaf under "U" and leaf to left "T" in "Cent"

I can't help you with the conservation question, but it definitely looks as if the seller doctored the photos to hide the verdigris. Was this an ebay purchase?

Nolawyer - yes it was. I'm strongly leaning toward returning. More I think about it, the more I believe I can get a better one.

Looks to have been photo-shopped for sure. I'd return it and ask for an explaination of the images.

What variety is this? Is it in a problem holder? $1150 sounds cheap for that high a grade piece if problem-free.

I looked at the ebay auctions and see both your Large cents came from the same seller. Get your money back for both and require the seller pay return, insured shipping at his expense.

This guy should be reported to ebay for photo-shopping images. It's obvious and should cost you nothing (except wasted time dealing with a rip-off artist).

Before returning them, would you consider trading them to me btw? I've been looking for coins like this, and verdigris or not, this one is real nice.

This seller is obviously shady. Return, get your money back, and avoid from now on. Anyone that would blatantly cover that verdigris spot is unscrupulous.

Full disclosure: There are additional pics but they have similar results.

Also, seller is member of ENRB ( ebay Numismatic Registration Board). Whatever that means.

Edit: ENRB not ERNB.
