Just received this from a fellow member. He found it mixed with some foreign coins, which would explain the hairlines.
Nice, semi-glossy original surfaces & color. Overdate clear. I am putting together a set of Large Cents, and have stated just a date set, but having the 1800/798 and now this one, I am reconsidering
A few minute spots of verdigris on the obverse...again, minute. Verdi-care? Thoughts?

Sweet coin for your date set!
I especially like the bold overdate for this year.

Not sure about the verdi-care question.
Good luck with the set!

Looks like its time to expand that set if you're already starting to acquire some varieties!

I absolutely love the bold overdate as well. Congratulations on the find!

This is an intriguing coin to own. Pleasing color, too. While working on your date set, you might also work on a mini-set of overdates, 1823/2, 1851/81 ... The 1799/8 would be an expensive addition though! You could use the overdates to complete the year sets, whenever possible, huh?

Very nice, I am doing a date set also, have to complete that before even thinking about varieties.

Thanks guys :)
It's amazing this coin is exactly 200 years old and how they would hand cut the dies.
NicO, welcome to the CCF!

Awesome coin. Amazing how clear that 0 is still. Most over dates you can barely tell. I agree with exo. Fill the dates with over date coins where you can. Then you have a date set with a little added wow factor.

Very nice overdate! Another obvious overdate would be the 1807/6. I just bought one in AG and the overdate is still visible!

Nice one! It's one of the stronger overdates on a US coin.
