Quick question for you uber pro photo fellas :D. I was going to get another light for my copystand setup. I right now have one of those flexi clip desklamps using a floresent bulb. Should I get another one like that, or should I get a flexi LED lamp instead? Or perhaps another type? I just wanna spend 5-15 bucks on it.

Flexible LED's are taking our little niche of photography by storm. They will do everything a flexible CFL will do, with the advantage of being much smaller so when necessary you can get them very close to vertical above the coin. I see no downside.

i just got a dual led flexi light off ebay for 4 bucks. I figured led would be nice because as you said you can get right on the coin without covering it up.

Thanks SuperDave, you really are super!

In some circumstances the CFL desk lamps are ok, it really depends on how close one needs the light next to the con, more likely, the distance between the coin and the camera to get the focus desired,,,small coins may very well be inches from the camera and large bulbs just won't do....Silver dollars leave more room for even an old boat to get its light on the coin...
In general, Dave and Ray and others, shoot a variety of coins, sizes and type of metal, Copper to silver and then some ....The Jansco's and there results definitely cover any need....If you have the distance the CLF's can work until you decide to get some Jansco's.....We can make do with what we have until we need to reach for the top!
