Well, after much trial and error (mostly error), I've decided to invest in a large copy stand and a couple of Jansjo LED lights to help in my quest for better coin photography.
As an added bonus, the 24" x 24" surface will allow me to take better images of the wifey's gemstone jewelry. The LED gooseneck lamps should add another dimension to my lighting.
In the quest for coin images that reveal both detail AND luster, I'm thinking of trying something slightly different - "HDR" imaging, aka High Dynamic Range photography. A pretty good site that explains the concept is here :
Just wanted to share a bit.....I'm kind of stoked about this new set-up, and will be anxiously awaiting the brown truck on Monday. I'm off work both Tuesday and Wednesday, and hope to have some new & improved Morgan silver dollar shots for show-n-tell by middle of the week.
