Coins Magazine offers 2 free uncirculated State Quarters with the purchase of their magazine. In the past, I've never bothered to mail back the postcard to get the coins, but last month I did. Yesterday in the mail I received 2 brand new shiny uncirculated South Dakota State Quarters. A "P" and a "D." How cool is that!! BTW, after being unemployed for a while, I finally started a new job on Tuesday. It's got my full attention and things are going well. I no longer get a chance to check in here as often as I used to, guess I'll have to catch up on the weekends. Life is good. Great forum!!

My Coins Magazine offer was a 2007 American Silver Eagle. Subscribe to Coins for one year at $28.98 and get a free Silver Eagle. You are only paying about $1.00 per issue. I thought that was a good deal too.

Man, I don't have a job right now. Been applying at more and more places every day. Now that I think of it, if I had been working this past week, I probably could get that 1916 D Mercury dime. Way to use your head, Ty... Good things, Ty

Great to hear that you're doing well! There are a number of deals like that where you can get free coins. I think Littleton has a similar deal. You just need to cancel the subscription service after you receive it. I think they give away a silver eagle. Good luck with your job. I'm sure you'll do great!!

There are always good deals out there if you look for them. For example in about the 3rd or 4th page in the 2007 Red Book there is a statement that if you call them they will send you 2 NGC Certified 2006 Silver Eagles FREE. Yes FREE. I thought it was a come on but called and sure enough they sent me them FREE. Of course had to pay for shipping and handling but far from what those coins are worth. The catch? Just that they will occationally call you or send you advertisements for their other products.

Numismatic News has been offering a P&D State Quarter (usually whatever is most recent) with a subscription too -- $14 for 6 months (sometimes a little more). Congratulations on your new job, T. Hope it turns out to be all your hoped for. Jan

There was no subscription obligation tied to this offer. I got the mail in offer from a magazine I bought on the news stand and checked the box for the free coins without the subscription. They may get cute and charge me $9.99 for 6 issues, but that's a bargain at that price anyway. What the heck..
Thank you all for your good wishes regarding my new job. I really appreciate it. TS

I guess it all depends on your definition of 'free', but these sound as if they are going to eventually cost you the price of the subscription to the magazine. How free is that? Of course, now that you are employed, you will have a chance to find out the true cast of the coins, when you send in the price of the magazing.

Guess they learned the hard way not to say free to people. From what I've heard at coin shows everyone possible called in for that offer. Can you imagine the cost if several thousand people got in on that deal?
