Thought I'd start of my first new posting with this subject, something keeps the search bug crawling for me, lets hear all your best Cherrypicks at Coin Shows, Auctions, or Dealers. What's the best deal, coin, variety you've had so far. I'm not wanting anyone to gloat or make bad on another, but using one's knowledge at a coin show or shop can be a good thing, I don't feel bad buying any of the coins below from the dealers I did, they should have done their homework and not left so much money laying on the table, so to speak. If I was dealing with an individual or new collector, I would show them what they had and offer a fair price for it, but a dealer throwing silver dollars into a junk bucket with a sign of "Your Pick $9.00" (it was a quite while ago) deserves it, if he's selling them for that then he paid less. Here are my top 5 CherryPicks comprising of only 3 different coin varieties.1878-P 8TF Morgan VAM 9 in AU - purchased as a normal AU 8TF coin from a dealer shop in San Diego, I sold it for 8 times my cost to a VAM collector that saw it at the Long Beach show, ungraded and raw, I already have one a little better. 1878-P 8TF Morgan VAM 9 in XF - bought for $9.00 in junk bucket. I'll probably re-list this on ebay, It is now graded in an ANACS XF45 Details Ex-Jewelry slab. 1878-S B1 Rev Long Nock in AU - bought for $12.00 in junk bucket. This coin and the one above were from the same dealer's table in Fort Worth - different shows about a year apart. 1878-S B1 Rev Long Nock in AU from ebay in a set of 11 dollars @ $7.80/coin traded to Larry Briggs for a 1901-P Morgan VAM 3 and some other semi key Morgan dollars, back around 2004. 1867 2¢ DDO variety in XF/AU at a nearby coin show (Fort Worth) for a common 1867 VF money in a trade, the dealer had not noticed the DDO - my best CherryPick2¢ piece yet, and my 3rd 1867 DDO. It was on a Sunday towards the end of show, he said he'd had the coin all weekend and had brought it with him, he had not purchased it at the show. So it sat for 3 days in a case and nobody else snagged it, before I came along. I found some other good stuff that Sunday too. This one is staying in my collection until an UNC shows up! Very nice coins Chriss! I can't say that I have very many cherry picks but by fra, it would have to be my 1972 DDO. Yes it's the good one! It's currently residing in an ANACS slab. I've also found some MD but that's about it. I'm sure I'll find some good ones when I get my microscope!

All I can say is WOW~! I haven't made it to a show in some time. and for that matter I am not really up on all the different ones to be looking for other than the LWC and LMC, but I guess that is a good start. Though I did get this one coin a few years back possibly 10-15+ years ago. It is a 1960 D/D LMC with doubling north to south I pad $3.50 back then in BU+

Just a few of my VAM picks ... 1. 1880-P VAM 8 "ears" ebay raw for $45. Graded PCGS AU-50. 2. 1878-P VAM 123 ebay raw for $100. Graded PCGS XF-40. 3. 1878-P VAM 123 ebay raw for $35. Graded PCGS F-12. 4. 1878-P 8TF VAM 14.6 ebay raw for $50. ANACs XF-45. 5. 1878-P 8TF VAM 9 on ebay (seven of them in all). Most I paid was about $125 for one and the others were less than $100. Got one PCGS AU-50, one XF-45, and two XF-40's. The other three one was PCGS genuine, questionable color and two have been cleaned and were not submitted.

Bryan the 1878-P VAM 85 in DMPL and a totally new reverse pair, I'd say that one takes the prize! I came to the party after this was found, was not doing any coin stuff online in October - early November, then BAM - a new VAM B1 reverse hits me after I sign up here at CCF, I am also semi-active on vamworld, but hadn't seen the postings there either. A big congratulations from me! I'd love to have seen Jeff Oxman's reaction to it, and the fact that he now has to find one for his 78 set! I sent an email to a friend that has a complete 7TF set - telling him he better get back to work - his response? LOL!
