Sorry, I don't know what else to call it..what would you call it? This is a set of kiwi coins that I've collected that covers the original NZ shilling (the above pic on the left) the 67 change over where it has the 10cent on top of the coin with the shilling on the bottom (middle pic) and then present day (right pic).

i thought a set was a collection of all available years? or a set of all coins from one year. maybe its a history set of kiwi 10 cent pieces?

Thats an interesting idea.
I did not realise that is what you were doing.
So for Australia an example would be sixpence and 5 cent?

I believe you're talking about a type set - in which you collect just one of each major design change, and ignore dates and mint marks. It's a pretty popular way to collect.

Ausjack, I think you might be missing a coin in your "rough set". Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but the NZ 10c changed in 2005 or 2006 and is now smaller and copper.

Cool a type set, thanks mate.

No not so much with the aussie coins because we don't have a coin were you can see the change from old to new like NZ (to my very limited knowledge that is that's not much, LOL)

Gee your a good man roo, thanks heaps for that. I googled "new zealand 10 cent" straight away and found it on the wiki thing and they have a pic of what the new NZ coins are so yes I have another to go WOOHOO.

And another thing I found of interset on there was that they say "On 11 June 07 the NZ reserve bank sold an unknown amount of NZ dollars in an attempt to drive down it's value. The first intervention in the market by the bank since the float in 85". Seems all governments play games with money by manipulating it in different ways.

And yeah it'd be great to have a full set from start to finish but that's a lot of coins and considering I got all mine here in oz from change I've done ok..I'll just settle for my little set :)

Thanks for the feedback people, I din't know what to call them.
Cheers

There are four aussi coins that fit this bill,
They are the 6 pence-5 cent, shilling - 10 cent, florin 20 cent, round 1966 50 cent-1967 onwards 50 cent

Ausjack, There are still a few coins to go for your 'Type Set".

NZ began making 1/- coins in 1933, so a type set will include any changes to the coin over the years:

1933-1936 George V KING EMPEROR (.500 silver)
1937-1946 GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR(.500 silver)
1947 GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR (Cupro Nickel-No visible change)
1948-1952 KING GEORGE THE SIXTH (Cupro Nickel)
1953-1965 QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND (Cupro Nickel)
1967-1969 QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND: 1 Shilling/10 Cents (Cupro Nickel)
1970-1985 ELIZABETH II NEW ZEALAND (Young Head:Cupro Nickel)
1986-1997 ELIZABETH II NEW ZEALAND (Mid Age Head:Cupro Nickel)
2000-2004 NEW ZEALAND ELIZABETH II (Mature Head:Cupro Nickel)
2006-2009 NEW ZEALAND ELIZABETH II (Mature Head:Small Copper)

No, no sorry trout1105. You sort of missed my point. I see what your saying, how they changed and the old 6 pence turned to 5c but that's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the key coin is the 67 in the middle that has "one shilling" on the bottom of the coin and it has the "10" on top like the newer 10 cent that don't have the shilling on it. I don't know if there's a coin of ours that has shilling and 10 like this does, sorry hope that explains it a bit better.

Max 10 coins, (9 really) and you've already got 3 of them, so you're 30% on the way. When you've got enough posts, send me a PM and I'll see what I can scratch together for you.
