Hiya,
Got some better pics of my 1903s $5 gold piece. Let me know what you think PCGS would grade it and if it's worth it to send it in.

Cheers,
Trey

AU-58 to low MS, looks to have luster but maybe minor circulation and at least significant chatter in the focal areas.

Brought it in to the shop today. Dealer claimed it was an obvious MS coin. He said it could grade anywhere from 60 to 62 if I was lucky. Interesting...

I would say low end MS. It's hard to tell by the picture, but I'm guessing that this coin has some decent luster in hand.

Without reading other comments I thought MS62. All the high points exhibit "mint frost" indicating no circulation wear. The marks in the fields are probably from contact with other coins while in storage.

There's a slight price jump between 62 and 63 so PCGS usually makes sure it's a solid 63 before awarding that grade.

Nice looking half eagle!

Thats more like it! And yes, the coin does have excellent mint luster in hand. Much better than can be seen in the photos. I picked it up for just above spot, sounds like I did pretty well :)

I think they may slap a 62 grade on this coin. You picked up a very nice coin for just above melt!

This is definitely MS in my opinion due to sufficient luster on the devices. There are no major marks, so MS-60 is out. I would guess MS-62....61 at worst. Doesn't look to have enough luster for 63.

I'll go MS-62 based on the new photos good luster, but agree this is a coin one needs to have in hand to really properly grade it.
