I concur...and with the market where it has gone - at least $200-$300 in that condition even with the boo-boo on the nose.

I sold one in similar condition (AU58) for $2100. http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot....033&lot=1204BUT- if you want to part with it for less than $500, I've got a buyer for you tonight! lol Yours likely grades AU55 to 58. Even though there are hits on the coin, they aren't enough to warrant a genuine or "details" holder from the main TPGs.

Thanks chuckster ! Am I ahead of you on this one, or at least even ? DrDon,that would be a $50 bag from a coin counter.

You are WAY ahead of me on this one!
I've never found a 004 yet! BUT WHEN I DO ! you'll be the first to know, along with that @#$%^&* 1995P DDO-001 that still eludes me! (LOL)
Congrats again my friend on a SUPER FIND!

Question-why is the 004 worth so much more than other 72s with more pronounced doubling?

Maineman: Is that from a bank? My small town bank won't give me a box.

numismo, the 004 is much more scarce most likely because they replaced the obverse die fairly early. There are collectors of sets of the 72 DDO's and this one is very tough to find. They even collect the reverse die that was previously paired with this obverse.I've heard up to $50 just for that..without the DDO obverse. DrDon...I deal with my credit union...you just need to find a bank that is collector friendly.

canadacoinguy, go to coppercoins.com and do a variety search on the 1972 DDO's. It will bring up pics and markers for all known dies. The best site for Lincoln cents IMHO. OK...canadacoinguy's post got deleted right after I answered him
