Came across these two gems in my junk collection.. Possible semi key dates or are they just worth their weight? What do you think?

Too bad there isn't a "D" or "S" on that '27!

Nice finds!

Like finding a forgotten $10 bill in a pocket...

The 1936-D is worth a nice premium in higher grade but at Good or Very Good (the approximate grade for these coins) they are only worth a bit over melt. Currently that's about $5 although you might get a bit more (before fees) if you put them on ebay.

Thanks for sharing!

yeah.. they are definitely worn! what about the 27? I know the S or D are the most desirable ones..

for now, I will keep them separated from my junk.

If you don't already have a Red Book you should acquire one. That and a copy of the ANA Grading Standards are absolute must have books for coin collectors of levels.

*BUMP*

Hey guys, I need your honest opinion. Should I keep the 36-D separate from my junk collection because of its numismatic value?

I am almost positive that the 1927 isn't worth much (except for its melt value) but I am not sure if I should roll up my 36 with the rest of my junk quarters or not?

What do you think fella's? The condition is good except for the worn ring around the obverse (light) & reverse (heavier).

Jenger, I would not do a stander as junk, just me. The washington is VG. If you are doing a circulated collection/book then there is absolutely no question. Heck, thats a hole in my circulated Dansco, so it would have to be in AG before I even considered junking it.

If you are a collector, they are not junk.
