I won't take the fun away so I'll let you attribute them. Here is a good example of buying cleaned vs uncleaned coins. You spent $20-$28 dollars and have four coins that are attributable. I, on the other hand, spend $29 on 15 coins that so far none of which have been attributable. I'll take your four any ole day. Good on ya. Some of the details are very fine. It's too bad for the corrosion, especially on the Roma coin.

Thanks JW I like the paina on these coins. I bought the roma thinking that it would be a good cleaning project but the encrustation will might be a little more difficult to deal with then I was thinking.

Under the crud, I see high grade coins but can not see the mintmark on the third coin even though the exergual area is large. Take care with this one to be sure you con't abrade that area and lose the data. The other three should be easy.

There is probably some of you who wont like this but here is the cleaned Constantine I commemorative- Wolf and Twins coin with a SMKA mint mark. I'm not going to clean the rest just this one. I wanted a good example of this coin now I have it.

It cleaned up nicer than I thought it would. Much better detail came through. What did you do to clean this coin? It's hard to tell from the images, but is there any patina on the coin or is it cleaned down to the metal? I haven't check my sources yet, but is that SMKA or SMK Delta?

I think its SMK delta I used the Rochelle salt solution, this coin looks dark green in hand but I bet there isn't much patina left.

Its what the musuems in the UK clean the ancient coins they find: ALKALINE ROCHELLE SALT SOLUTION - 50g Sodium Hydroxide - 150g Potassium Sodium Tartrate (Rochelle Salt) - 1000ml distilled water

they only leave the coins in 5-10minutes. If you leave them in longer they strip the patina.
