I've found this Australian 1974 5c at a grab bag that was purchased from Turkey. There seems to be a digit, the number "7" seems weakly struck. Any ideas from Oz coin experts are recommended as even though I actively collect Australian coins I have very little idea about them, thank you.

I suspect there was some dirt/grease filling the digit on the die.
When the coin was struck, the grease prevents metal from flowing into that digit, resulting in the weak strike.

I suspect that too. I haven't seen it in the decimal coins of the UK. I am sure someone here is able to tell me if this is common, uncommon or rare. I know there are some very experienced Australian collectors here
Common or not, it's nice to have an error Australian coin here, so far away from its' homeland:)

the A in elizabeth also seems a little mis-formed on the bottom parts in comparison to the A"s in australia
