My girl knows nothing about coins but she bought me a BUC roll of 1962 pennies for a buck - in order to have some fun with it she decided to give me 4 per day.
Well although she started sending them Dec 4th I finally got the first 4. When l opened them l found that 3 out of the 4 are the Missing M variety :) now l want to see the rest of that roll lol

On the obverse of the penny at the bottom of the Queens bust it is stamped MG for the designer. In some cases it didnt get stamped / punched properly and is missing from the bust.
Those that are well known: 1961 Missing M 1962 Missing M 1964 Missing G 1964 Missing MG
Hope that helps :)

Actually yes there ae some hanging 2s but since l have so many of them l hardly notice anymore - l think l have 3 full rolls of hangers all mixed together (single/double/full s)

Second batch of 4 arrived today and 1 of them is a Missing M :) Average so far is 4 out of 8 makes a 1 dollar roll so much sweeter :) and still 42 pennies to arrive lol

Nice gift! Those seem to be one of the most difficult to find, especially in BU.

Got 2 batches in the mail today ... up to 9 out of 16 now :)
lve always heard it is one of the harder ones to find also and it was one l was missing in my book. lm quite happy to be finding so many and l just hope the average holds up. Either way its been a fun roll so far and l must admit waiting for them to arrive is fun in a way lol
It is a BU roll but it does have some spotting on a few of them, some of them are definitely higher grades. I'm having trouble getting good pictures unfortunately.

I am interested in the juxtaposition of the Harp with the others. Do you think that this was an original group of mint coins from the same batch at the mint? Do others know if Harps are typically found on their own or in batches? Do Harps and Guitars come together? Seems funny that you would get one Harp on its own to me...... Why would this happen? Some unusual mechanical issue with the press at the mint? Any thoughts SPP? Zonad?

I thought it was odd too, usually l find varieties in bunches per roll, whether its a hanging didit or a double date, etc. it usually seems there is more than 1 per roll. This harp shows the same spotting and bag marks as the others making it seem like it came from the same batch or at least went into the roll at the same time.
Im curious about this too so hopefully someone else has some idea ....
