Hi everyone!
I found a 1986 D quarter while roll searching. Would it be considered a good find since I found it up here in Canada?
Thanks.

Alright I will post pics. I wasn't sure if it was a semi key-date or not.

2012 Red Book shows 504,298,660 minted. Not that rare in the U.S. But always exciting to find a foreign coin!

Alright, well to be honest, it is technically foreign to me but I'm well advanced in my US collection but for some reason I thought it had slightly more value then a regular 25 cent piece. Oh well, Thanks again everyone.

Max, you aren't far off. The CLAD KEY years for the quarter are 1982 and 1983. The US mint did not produce mint sets in these two years. The 83 P is the most valuable. Still, the premiums would come from BU coins- perhaps a small premium for AU.

The 86-D is one of the more valuable quarters of the series in uncirculated grades. None of the non-silver Washington quarters are really worth more than .25 in circulated grades. I have seen some people pay a little over face for circulated 82P/D and 83P/D, but not much. The 83P might sell for $1 in circulated grades, but is a $20 coin average uncirculated...its the best one amongst clad quarters.

Oh okay I see, well it explains where I would have got the semi key-date idea.
Thanks for the great info cc99999 and hesgut!
