Hi everyone, I recently picked up this beautiful 1948 dollar and I was wondering what everybody's opinions are. The scratch like things on the first picture are not on the coin. The appear on the picture but I'm not too sure why. ( possibly a glare affect) And also the scratch on the neck/cheek are on the plastic that it's in. Thanks!

No I don't mind at all, I consider it to be a steal at 1100 dollars. In hand it really looks like a MS62.

I have an FDC (Fleur De Coin) British George V1 1937 five sovereign proof, and the obverse die cutting in the coin pictured is sharper than that, particularly in the hair detail above the ear.
I do not see any wear in this coin, therefore it is a least MS. I see some nicks in the neck of the King, but they may be just in the Mylar protective film. One or two minor edge bumps, attractive toning.
MS62 or 3.
With a coin of that value, I can understand why you may be reticent to take it out of the 2 x 2 to photograph it. I would be tempted to put it in a screw capsule. That way, it can be handled with less risk.

Could those hairlines in the first photo be signs of cleaning, IDK or might just be the 2x2.

10Xloupe, I dont believe those are scratches, but a better picture without the flip would be nice. MAX L are you going to get it professionaly graded?

Yeah I was considering getting it graded but I'm not sure of which grader to go with anymore.. I will take a photo without the 2 X 2 tonight.

Yeah I'm actually out of gloves I use for roll searching because once they get too dirty I like to change pairs so I'll get some more tomorrow and then take a picture. Too scared to damage the coin!

I got this coin from a guy who owns a pawn shop. He always gives me a call when he gets something good in and he usually gives me reasonable prices since we do business a lot.

Well, thats a good price for the coin. But you should get it graded and authenticated.
