1964 Liberty Half Dollar

I have a 1964 liberty half dollar with a very thick rim. The rim is nearly 1/8 inch thick. The surface of the coin is equally centered between the rim. The words around the coin extend up onto the rim. Has anyone seen this before?

I should have said Kennedy half dollar, not liberty. Sorry.

Sounds like you have a coin someone started to make into a ring spooning the rim. It should be the same weight as a normal silver coin.

Coop, I have noticed on the silver dollars I have there is sometime a little weight difference. What makes the difference?

Planchet thickness may be above/under affecting the weight. Also wear can reduce some silver. A pocket piece would be thinner and weigh less.
