Well, I went through them and now I am hooked on nickels as well. I have been doing cents and halves up to this point. I found a five Euro cent in the box along with a nice variety of Jefferson's. I did find one 2009 D ...yeah for me as well as the two keepers below. Anyone have a suggestion on the 1939 to get the crud off it? It looks more like old goo or something that acetone won't touch. I know...don't clean coins...but I dont see what harm you could do to this one! Thanks in advance

If soaking in distilled water dorsn't work, try a diesel bath. Those two things will dissolve 95% of stuff that's disolvable

That '49 looks great!

Too bad about the '39. I take you tried acetone....? At this point, you're not cleaning but conserving the coin, in my opinion. But I'm new to this so I hope you get some good advice from some experts.

The only thing that I think might be safe is to soak it in distilled water -- for months, and see what happens. But again, I hope you hear from an expert.

The '49-S looks like it may have a rotated die clash on the obverse? There is an indented line running from the "U" in TRUST to the "1" in the date.

My Christmas nickel box included my first 2009, and a hole filling 48-S. Down to 5 holes to fill.
