Happy New Year!
In 2012, the Greater Atlanta Coin Show begins its 25th year of monthly coin shows. The 2012 dates are January 15, February 12, March 11, April 15, May 20, June 10, July 8, August 5, September 16, October 14, November 11, and December 9.
We welcome everyone - experienced numismatists, new collectors, bullion investors and just browsers too.
Doors open at 9 am, close at 5 pm, and admission is free.
You can find the show at the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel and Conference Center, 500 Powder Springs Street, Marietta, GA, 30064. (For those using GPS, some do not recognize Powder Springs Street - try "Road" instead. The name changes just south of the hotel.)
You can find more information about the coin show on our web site. Since this is our first post, we are following the Forum's rules and not putting a link. You can easily find the show's web site using your browser and favorite search function for "Greater Atlanta Coin Show."
For those in the area or perhaps traveling nearby, visit the coin show.
All of you are welcome!

As close as I am, I should make an effort to attend one of these this year.

I'm about 90 minutes away & for some reason haven't made it up there yet. Has anyone gone that can comment on how big it is?

I have only had free time to go twice to this coin show: a few weeks ago, and back in Feb. It was a large conference room with dealer tables around the walls and about 4 rows of 8 tables each row in the center. I have found some deals there. A few weeks ago, there was a supplies dealer, but they were not there in Feb. They give directions and other info on their web site

I've been and would recommend it. Atlanta's a large city so it attracts a lot of dealers. Many come from hours away.

a dealer I dealt with in February was from Chattanooga. That is also why they suggest not waiting until the last minute to go. Some dealers may leave early.

A few more details about the coin show...
Most months we have 37 dealer tables in the hotel's ballroom. On rare occasions, the hotel has a conflict for their large ballroom. The coin show moves downstairs into a slightly smaller space - still over 30 tables.
Our regular dealers come from Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. We also have a wait-list of dealers from the surrounding area who get invited to the show when a regular dealer cannot attend.
You can find a list of the frequent dealers on our web site along with their interests. Some have specific specialties, others have broader interests.
A few dealers have long drives or other obligations and leave mid-afternoon. The show is always open until 5:00, but to enjoy the most opportunities, you should arrive early in the day.
As for supplies, our supplies dealer chooses not to set-up every month. In fairness, his inventory is bulky and time-consuming to move. Though, even if he doesn't set up, he generally delivers items to the show for both dealers and attendees. You can contact him before a show to let him know what you need.
