I'm wondering how many rolls are you guys searching on average before coming up with any doubled dies and such. I've searched probably around $400 worth of pennys and have only found 6 98 wams, 1 99 WAM, 1 2000 WAM and a few questionable doubled dies?

Well, I have been through over $900 in cents with no double dies I can see. I know there are some that are real subtle, but if they are that minor I wouldnt be interested in it anyway. So in a nutshell.....nadda in $900

In my area I have found two or three 2000 WAM's and 1998 WAM's. No 1999 WAM's and no CAM's. I find a lot of minor DDR's and DDO's. I also find a good number of RPM's and trail dies etc. I have been through a lot of rolls, I average 5-10 rolls everyday. I used to go through more then that at one time. John1

Depends on how minor we are talking about. I find a 'column bar' Memorial cent in just about every roll, but they are too minor to bother keeping. If you've been through over $400 in coins and haven't found a single minor doubled die - you probably don't know what you're looking at. You've certainly missed something. My suggestion - BUY a few from a reputable source so you will KNOW for sure what they look like. Then you won't be missing them.

You found a '99 WAM in $400, that's not shabby.I agree with Mr.Daughtrey, once you have seen one in hand you will have a clearer idea of what to look for. Also do not just look at known dates, check every one.

I find a LOT of MD but never have found a true DD. I must be doing something wrong, I go through around 50 rolls twice to three days a week.I have found 9 2000 WAM's and 4 1998 WAM's and several 1983 brass plated planchets but never a DD.

I've been through over $5000 in quarters and haven't found anything worth mentioning... but I've had luck with wheat cents... "Unsearched" rolls from ebay spent about $100 total on them and found a doubled die and several OMMs

I've been through over $150 in cents and I've found six 98 WAMs and five 00 WAMS and one 99 WAM, but no CAMs. The 99 WAM was really sweet to find and my best ever variety found.

I don't keep track of how much I have been through. I would guess $250 in cents. I have found only 1 WAM (2000)however I have found 8 nice Doubled Dies. My best being 1972-1DO-008. As Coppercoins said there are a countless amount of very minor Doubled Dies (next to Lincoln on the Reverse). I have a entire roll of them and now I stop keeping them. What are you using to search the elements of the coin? A magnifying glass? A Loupe? What power? It could be in the equipment you are using.

Unless you know what you are really looking for it might difficult to see a DD with a 10x. I use a 16x. If you find an obvious one (alot of the 72's) they will really stick out. But alot of other valuable ones will just have a few letters that are thicker and its hard to see split seriffs in "LIBERTY" and IGWT. For example...look at this 2006P Doubled Die click ---> http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mds Notice how the "Y" in Liberty is thicker on one side? Also you can see the split on the bottom of the "T" and "Y" ...Not all DD's have two separated letters or numbers. The most common Doubled Dies are next to Lincoln on the Reverse of the LMC's. I stopped keeping them I have found so many... look at this 2004P to see what one of these minor DD's look like http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mdsWhen you look at a date they should be equal in thickness all the way around if you see any variation then you should look at the entire coin more carefully...Notice how part of the "2" is thinner? Also the "0" isn't consistant in size like here ---> http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mdsHope that helps!

I get a headache when I look monocularly through a loupe. I got a little USB camera microscope and just check out the coins under it. I can adjust the magnification and take a picture if I think I've found something - very handy.
