I certainly don't hoard copper. I hoard RED copper. If I can find it near face, in rolls, bags, whatever. When I search spare change, I keep the RED coppers. The coins that came out of a roll someone opened for the first time in 40 years. Must have found 20 in the last $400 of spare mixed change.

LincolnGuy - Ummm, would take that many pennies to repair the foundation on which it sits. Hope that is not your garage. :D

There is absolutely nothing wrong with hoarding copper cents. Where else can you receive 100% or better return on an investment? To me, this is a no brainer and very little work is involved.

Just the wheaties I've pulled from boxes. I don't hoard the pre-82s. Too much effort in my mind and I can do other things rather than tying up the capital...

LincolnGuy - that was a picture from an ebay auction. If I recall correctly, the guy wanted about $90k for the lot. I think there was another thread on CCF regarding it but I can't find it now.

1/4 ton of cu sorted in 6months. Not too shabby but, guys are sorting a few thousand dollars a week with Ryedales. My goal is at least A TON.
Rules are kinda iffy about linking so , but theres a good hoarding forum ...also
google video "Extreme Penny Hoarders Hope to Cash In " check out the Portland mint in the video. They are holding $270,000 in cu pennies.

It's no big deal to separate the copper pennies from pocket change every day. It is easy if you do it every day. I have been doing it for years. I used to roll them by date and mintmark, but I don't do that any more. I just put them in a bucket, cigar box, whatever works. I can't see how any amount of copper pennies is too many. Well maybe the guy with the trash cans lined up is too many.

yes that is an ebay auction. It's still up. The guy wants $88,000 for all of those wheats. There are 2 million wheat pennies. at 3 cents each that's still $60,000. So believe it or not he's selling that at a decent deal compared to other ebay auctions where they usually go for 5 cents each. Here's the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-millions-...em2eba317bb9

2 coffee cans of memorials and 30+ rolls of wheat. To a normal person or my wife I'm a hoarder, to you guys (& gals) I'm a newbie...
