Happy New Years all. Are there any "hoarders" on here? What is your limit on copper pennies, i.e., how many (not including your collection) would you keep in your home?

I only have about 35 tubes of wheat back pennies, other than my pennies in 2x2s. If you are talking about throwing change in a jar or bucket just for the sake of one day cashing them in for bills, then I do not do that. Am definitely not a hoarder. I know some people that save their change and then cash in to take a trip, but I need the money long before it builds up that much! LOL

I'm sorting all of my coppers by year and have a quarter shelf full of them in rolls.

My upper limit is a matter of how fast they become cumbersome and then it's off to find a buyer. Proceeds become silver coinage.

I am certainly no Portland Mint. :-)

I don't know why but I save all the pennies I get in change. I have 25 regular size coffee cans full of them. I don't know if there is a limit because they don't take up any real space. Someday I will have to go through them just to see what I have.

I guess I may be a hoarder even though I don't consider myself one.

I only have about 250 loose wheaties, but I have roughly 120 rolls of Pre-82 cents. Would that be considered obsessive? I guess I am waiting for the "Great Melt Down."

Probably not really a definitive gauge of what is or isn't too much. I say as long as its not straining the bank, the home or the marriage, it's not too much.

I have a about $75 worth from roll searching. The boxes are fairly small and really do not take up much space. Now I am sure there are people with a huge amount saved up in there homes.

I maybe have $25 face of copper cents after going through 5 or 6 boxes and will continue to keep them until it becomes unreasonable (a highly subjective term, I know). I regularly see posts with folks that have 5-gallon Home Depot buckets filled with copper.

For instance, see page two of the following thread, half way down:

Wow I just started to save them other than wheats. I have about 1/3 of a quart size mason jar at this point. Not really roll searching for them at this point. I am roll searching pulling out pre-58 jeffersons.

All I have so far is 1 Carlo Rossi 1 gallon 'o wine bottle full after 3 boxes and several years of pocket finds. I suppose if I step up to a few boxes a week I might get into the big leaugue of 5 gallon buckets

I'd trade ALL of my coins for a newer Ferrari (even my 20 year searching grail find 1917 Type 1 SLQ)

Hell, I'd even trade all of them for a lowly Ferrari 308
