Help Identifying 2 Proof Coins? - Coin Community Forum

Axecutioner New Member 23 Posts	Posted 01/05/2012 01:42 am I have 2 coins: a Kennedy half and an Ike dollar. Both are bicentennials. They look like proofs - they have perfect, mirror-like surfaces. The edges are clad. The only thing is, they don't have mint marks. In my Red Book and on the PCGS site, the only proofs listed are S mint marks. And the only pictures of proofs I see have a mirrored background and matte design. But mine are completely mirror-like, with no mintmarks. What do I have here? I don't have pictures, my only camera is my phone and it can't take pictures of coins very well. Report this Post to the Staff

The proof versions of these coins should have mirror-like fields and frosted figures, as in the following example: If the entire coin is shiny, it has either been polished or else is just a really nice example of an uncirculated coin.
