While taking an inventory of our Canadian small cents I came across this 1925 marked as a Strike Through Error. Indeed there appears to be an imprint of a small hair to the left of George V.

Any thoughts on the error or the overall condition? I'm having a selection of my better coins graded soon and I'm wondering if I should include this or one of my 1923 cents. Thanks

I can't tell from the photo if it is a strike through error or some kind of post mint damage ( PMD). Others with more error expertise may have a view.

If it is PMD, then obviously paying for a negative third party grade would be a waste. If it is an error, I still don't think this one would warrant the cost of a US grader. CCCS would probably grade this with the strike through comment if that is what it is. I would ask them first.

You would need to post a picture of the 1923.

It does have the look of a genuine Lint Strike error. However, I would not send it for certification if you intend to package it for future sale. To me this is a White Elephant coin. Someone with an interest in errors would usually look for a less expensive example. On the other hand, a collector of key date coins would prefer a coin without a prominent mark in front of the king's face. A coin like this would be hard to sell & likely would need to be discounted well below trends. Send the 1923 instead.
