Well I decided to sell off some of my none silver coinage so I can purchase collectable silver coinage. Though I do have a little experiance selling on ebay I was hoping for some help to maximize my profits. Things like listing titles, Pics, Time, Days, kind of shipping, ect... Anything that might help. In addition what other sites or places are there to sell (other then craigslist).

Thank you
Ron

My advice, avoid craigslist.
Title as well as description is very important. Use every available character in your title to attract more potential bidders and watchers.
I generally do 7-day auctions unless I'm selling a very expensive coin then I'll do a 10 day. Make sure your auction covers weekends for maximum hits, people work during the week and not all have time to ebay weekdays.
Don't start your auction at 1am but rather 7pm, it ends the same time.
Best pictures you can take and the most accurate description will be greatly appreciated by potential bidders.
Your shipping and handling should cover your expenses and time and always get delivery confirmation on your package. Insurance is a must on higher priced coins.

I moved this because I think you'll get a more focused audience here. I'll weigh in tomorrow when I'm at a real keyboard.

When I used to sell anything on ebay (several years ago), auctions should end on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evening. I tried to time the auctions to end at 7 pm on the west coast (PST) so bidders from EST through PST time zones were able to bid.

IF selling on ebay, end your auctions around 7:00pm Pacific Time, make certain "silver" is in the title (if it's a silve coin!) and select the correct category for your coins. Take the best pictures possible also

You could list an item and link it here for comments and suggestions. Always use delivery confirmation when shipping.

Good Luck!

Well like I said I am selling non silver coins, But lets use for an example a "1857 Flying Eagle penny, in what I think is between vf and ef ( I'm no grader) condition" How should I post this coin, What are the key words, and should I put my opinion on the grade in the listing title?

Thank you
Ron

It is against ebay policy to put a numeric grade in the title of a raw coin. See Drsandman's link above. You are, however, allowed to put your opinion of the grade in the description.

You'll want to use as many keywords as space will allow in the title. If you're selling an 1857 FE cent, try to think of all the possible words people will use to search for that coin. For example, "1857 Flying Eagle cent Penny Coin Copper Nickel"

Especially with raw coins, the importance of high quality pictures cannot be overstated.

I would also second, staying around here until you get 250 posts. So that you could sell or trade coins here. This would avoid you paying fees to ebay.

With regards to getting coins graded, you could post good quality pictures to the right forums and the folks here can help out with grades.
