I'm not that big into nickels, but the strike on this coin seems outrageous to my amateur eyes. I bought it because all the devices are very sharp, lines in all stars are full (the first isn't quite).

A lot of these nickels I have seen are very "flat". By that I mean the bust and devices seem to not be well struck on Liberty nickels. However, on this coin Liberty's neck bursts off the coin and seems "wavy" as if it has texture or something. I can't get this to come through in the photo...

That sure is a nice coin! I agree that when they are in lower grades, they seem to appear flat.

Looks like a die crack from the rim connecting stars 1-4.

Actually, when I bought this coin I compared it to another 1883 No Cents side-by-side in hand. The other coin was labeled GEM BU, $185 and had better luster than the coin I posted.

The GEM BU coin was just that. But many of the stars were not full, the hairlines and devices were not as well struck. The only problem I have with the coin I posed is a nick on Liberty's nose.

Really nice for Type.

Seems to have a trace of wear on the leaves behind LIBERTY, and on the reverse as well, AU 55-58.

I thinking there is some very slight rub, so AU-58, but it is a slider. Might be as high as MS-63.

I think this may be a mid AU depending on luster.

The details on this coin look uncirculated but thats all I can tell from the pictures because of the amgle and lighting. I dont know if its just the way the light hits the date but does this coin have a repunched 8? the second 8 looks like it could have some doubling inside the 8.
